Configuring OvGME

CSG8 uses OvGME to distribute liveries and campaign mods to all of our members. OvGME is a simple program that can search on online repository for mods and updates to those mods, and download and install the updates to DCS without much user action.

Repository URL

1 | Install OvGME

Configuration Title

Any title will work, "CSG8" is fine.

Configuration Root Folder

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta

Note: Your DCS folder may be just named "DCS" and not contain ".openbeta", especially if you have Steam.

Configuration Mod Folder

Make a folder on a drive with at least 10GB free and point OvGME at it. For instance, D:\OvGME. OvGME uses this folder to stage mods from.

2 | Configure OvGME

After installing OvGME, it still needs to be configured with our repository. To do so:

  1. Open OvGME

  2. Click on the Mods menu bar button

  3. Mouse over Repositories

  4. Click Configure...

  5. Select the URL box

  6. Enter the OvGME Repository URL: http://ovgme.vcsg8.com/repo.xml

  7. Click Add

  8. Click Close

3 | Installing Mods

Now that you have a repository configured, you actually fetch and download the mods by performing the following:

  1. Click on the Mods menu button

  2. Mouse over Repositories

  3. Click Query

  4. Select the mods you want to download. The following are required for missions:

    1. High Digit SAMs

    2. 376th Range Objects

    3. SAMSite Asset Pack

  5. Click Download Selected

OvGME will now download the zip files containing the mods to the location you input for the configuration mods folder. Once downloaded the package names should now appear on the main OvGME page with a gray circle. To enable the mod:

  1. Select the mod

  2. Select Enable Selected

  3. OvGME will install the mod to the Saved Games folder

  4. Restart DCS and the mod should appear in-game

4 | Updating Mods

Periodically, we will update mods, especially the livery packs. To receive updates you just need to query the repository in Step 3, and download any mods that OvGME has detected have updates.
